Is it right for me?
- A tooth is missing or cannot be saved
- You don't want the healthy teeth next to the gap ground down for a bridge
- Your gums are healthy, or can be treated first
- You can return for the crown, or we can plan the timing around your stay
How it works
- Consultation and CT scan
A 3D scan shows bone height and nerve position, so the implant is planned on screen before surgery.
- Placement
The implant is placed under local anaesthetic. Most people go back to normal activity the next day.
- Healing
The bone bonds to the implant over about 3 to 4 months. A temporary tooth can be worn if needed.
- Final crown
We scan or take an impression and fit the crown, then check your bite.
Insurance and cost
Korean National Health Insurance covers implants for people aged 65 and over, up to two in a lifetime, within set rules and with a co-pay. For everyone else implants are not covered. The total depends on the number of implants and whether bone grafting is needed; we give you the full price in writing before treatment.
Planning around your stay in Korea
Because healing takes months, tell us if you may leave Korea. We can schedule placement so the crown is fitted before you go, or plan the timing with you if you travel home during healing.
Aftercare
- Some swelling for a few days is normal; follow the written instructions we give you
- Avoid smoking before and after surgery; it raises the risk of failure
- Clean around the implant with interdental brushes
- Keep regular check-ups and scaling; the gum around an implant can still get infected
Questions
How much does an implant cost in Dangjin?
It depends on the number of implants, the bone and the crown. After the CT scan we give you the full price in writing. From age 65, up to two implants are covered by insurance with a co-pay.
Does implant surgery hurt?
The area is numbed, so you feel pressure rather than pain. Mild discomfort and swelling for a few days are common.
Can I get an implant if I smoke or have diabetes?
Often yes, but smoking and poorly controlled diabetes raise the risk of problems. Tell us about your health and medicines at the consultation.
How long does it take?
Usually about 3 to 4 months from placement to the final crown. Bone grafting or an extraction first can add time.
